A DOGS PURPOSE

Golden Girl was inspired by my Golden Retreiver Girlie ,she’s calm, kind ,loyal and " Filled With Love " .She kept me safe when I wasn’t sure who I was anymore.
Her little brother Sunny brought the energy back , he's "Full Of Life. "Together, they gave this place its name, its feel, and its flavour.
We named the dipping sauces after them because they represent everything we believe in:

Kisses Girlie -Sweet, warm, honey garlic ,maple and a hint of bacon.

Sunny Style – Bright Yellow and warm ,tangy, bold, Pairs with crinkle fries and toast.
Loyalty above all— the kind you can taste and feel in the food and experience.

Who’s behind Golden Girl?
I’m Rick Smiciklas.
I built a national chicken wing chain with my last 100 bucks in ‘99, grew it to over 100 stores, then walked away in 2015 , only to lose it all .
After a long break, legal and health issues ,two grandkids and a few golden retrievers later, I’m back with Golden Girl — a fresh start, built with love.

What’s the story behind Kisses Girlie ?
Named after my dog, Girlie. She saved me in so many different ways, so I honoured her with our signature sauce .

What does “Golden” really mean to you?
Golden is simple , warm , kind and loyal and doing things the right way.
It’s not just the food. It’s the experience.
Everyone needs a purpose — this is mine.
How did you come up with Sticky Paws?
It’s done our way and Girlie approved, lots of testing and over 300 different samples, loved every second of it.
Back in the chicken wing days, I created Gar Par. This is its little brother like Sunny is to Girlie.

What advice would you give someone going through hard times?
Get up one more time, and never ever feel sorry for yourself , ever.
My mom told me that when I was at my lowest.

How important is branding and packaging?

What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I used to mud wrestle when I was 16 and got my first ten minutes of fame there , then I bartended in Fort Lauderdale. I’ve made every mistake in the book , however my book is still unwritten , ( Amazing Song )
I’ve always loved building things from scratch— with raw authentic grit and determination.
Do you use social media?
Nope, never have , never will.
